BLOOD TRAP (2016)

DON’T BREATHE (2016)

The Girl with all the Gifts 2016

Annabelle (2014)

John Gordon has found the perfect gift for both his pregnant wife Mia and their unborn child—Annabelle, a beautiful and rare vintage doll in a pure white wedding dress. Unfortunately, the family's delight with the doll is short-lived. On one horrific night, their home is invaded by members of a satanic cult, who violently attack John and Mia. Spilled blood and terror are not all they leave behind. The cultists have conjured an entity, which is so malevolent that nothing they did will compare to the sinister conduit to the damned that is now Annabelle.

Tusk (2014)

Friends Wallace Bryton (Justin Long) and Teddy Craft (Haley Joel Osment) host the popular podcast The Not-See Party, where they find and mock humiliating viral videos. He announces plans to fly to Canada to interview the Kill Bill Kid, an Internet celebrity famous for severing his leg. In flashbacks spread through the film, it’s revealed that Wallace was originally a failed standup comic who became popular with his increasingly vicious podcasts, which upsets his girlfriend Ally (Génesis Rodríguez) and leads to fights accusing him of selling out.  Upon arriving in Manitoba, Wallace learns that the Kill Bill Kid has killed himself. Upset that he flew to Canada for nothing, Wallace decides to stay an extra day and find another person to interview. He finds a handbill from someone offering a room in his home for free and the guarantee of hearing a lifetime of interesting stories. His interests piqued, Wallace arrives at the mansion of Howard Howe (Michael Parks), a retired seaman in a wheelchair. Howe tells the story of how a walrus he named Mr. Tusk rescued him after a shipwreck. Wallace passes out from the drugs laced in Howe's tea.  The next morning, Wallace wakes up to find himself strapped into a wheelchair and his left leg amputated. Howe tells him he saw a Hobo spider crawl out of his pant leg and a local doctor had to amputate it to save Wallace’s life. Wallace realizes Howe’s insanity when Howe not only reveals that he can still walk, but lays out his plans for Wallace: having an obsession with the walrus, he plans to fit Wallace into a perfectly constructed walrus costume. Wallace's attempts to contact Ally and Teddy fail when neither answer their phone before Howe knocks him unconscious.  Now aware that Wallace is in danger, Ally and Teddy fly to Canada to look for him. Back at the mansion, as Howe continues to mutilate and alter Wallace, he tells his backstory as a Duplessis orphan and how years of physical, psychological and sexual abuse throughout his childhood have driven him completely mad and cemented years of hatred towards mankind. Wallace is sewn into a walrus pelt made of human skin, the tusks made of the tibia bones from Wallace’s severed legs.  Local detective Frank Garmin (Ralph Garman) puts Ally and Teddy in touch with Guy Lapointe (Johnny Depp), an alcoholic Quebec ex-cop who has been hunting Howe for years. Lapointe reveals that Howe, nicknamed “The First Wife", has been kidnapping and murdering people for years and believes Wallace may still be alive, but not as they remember him. They eventually find Howe’s address through two convenience store clerks (Harley Quinn Smith and Lily-Rose Depp) Wallace had met earlier.  As the three arrive at Howe’s house, Wallace’s psyche has been completely broken and conditioned to be like that of a walrus. Howe reveals that his real obsession comes from killing and eating Mr. Tusk six months after living on the island and, out of guilt for his human qualities, has changed all these people into his beloved savior in a chance to relive their last day and give him another chance at survival. Dressed in his own homemade pelt, Howe and Wallace engage in a fight that ends in Wallace killing Howe with his tusks. Ally, Teddy, and Lapointe find the enclave and Wallace bellows at them.  One year later, Wallace, still sewn into the pelt, lives in a wildlife sanctuary. Ally and Teddy visit him and feed him a mackerel. Ally, remembering a discussion she had with Wallace the day before he left for Canada about how crying separates humans from animals, tells Wallace she still loves him before walking off crying. Tears run down Wallace’s face as he bellows.

Open Grave

The title itself represents a ground full of dead body. You'll be thinking how or why is it entitle open grave.

The story begun with a man
sleeping in an open area full of dead body, when he was awakened he totally panic , can't remember anything and shouted for help. Then all of a sudden there is somebody throws a rope and ordered him to climb. She was saved by a mute woman and they went to a house that serves as their hide out and found out that there are other people staying on that house too. A mute woman who doesn't understand English

,  a German man

and three Americans

, none of whom can remember his or her identity, although they do soon realize that they can remember other aspects of their former lives (such as the ability to speak other languages).

After long arguments about who is to blame they eventually stumble onto their identities. The man is John/Jonah , the German is Lukas, and the other three are Sharon, Nathan and Michael. There are no documents for the mute. Lukas continues to be hostile toward John especially when the group uncovers a picture containing all of them, with the exception of John. A nearby calendar hints that something is going to happen in two days (on the 18th), but there are no notes to indicate what.

The next morning the group explores the surrounding area. John and Sharon stumble across a locked shelter. Inside is a child who refers to John as Jonah and is clearly terrified of him. The child refuses to answer any questions and John is forced to flee.

Meanwhile, Michael hears screams in the background and follows them until he finds a man trapped in barbed wire. The man is heavily covered in cuts, bruises and sores. He begs Michael for help, but when he goes to help, the man reveals he is not trapped and violently attacks Michael and he soon dies of his wounds.

John suffers numerous flashbacks of violence toward people including slamming someone's head against a wall. He and Sharon come across a group of individuals chopping wood and the pair are forced to flee when the woodcutters give chase. Despite catching up with John and Sharon the group gives up chase when they spot dead bodies hung from a tree.

Nathan gets attacked by a group of people in a zombie like state but manages to survive.

An increasingly ill Lukas stumbles across a video camera that contains clips of John conducting medical experiments on him and others. In the clips John explains that the vaccine does prevent the infection spreading but has the unfortunate side effect of rendering the recipient unconscious for several hours, lowering the pulse to just 30bpm, and causing temporary memory loss upon being awakened.

Lukas confronts John and banishes him from the rest of the group. While trying to drive as far away as he can John encounters the child from earlier and three others who are trying to escape. They abandon their car for another. They are adamant that his name is Jonah and that he is a dangerous man before driving away. Jonah explores the abandoned car discovering a medical kit, documents addressed to him, and a photo of him and Sharon confirming the two are lovers.

John finally has flashbacks that confirm his identity as Dr Jonah Cooke and that he was trying to cure a plague with the help of the rest of the group who turn out to be his medical team.

Jonah regains focus just in time to see a car hurtling towards him that is driven by a now nearly fully infected Lukas. Jonah manages to convince Lukas of what is happening but the German dies before a life saving injection can be given from a medical kit that was in a nearby abandoned car.

As Jonah is driving back to the house to inform the others what is happening his car breaks down as dawn approaches. Back at the house the mute is hiding while Nathan and Sharon have now both fully regained their memories. Suddenly the house is surrounded by a large group of the infected, and in desperation Sharon writes a letter to Jonah that explains what has happened and what the solution is.

She reveals that the mute is the key to survival as she is immune to a virus that has wiped out most of the world's population; that Jonah was the leader of the medical team that was trying to prevent it spreading and, if possible, cure the currently infected. Lukas had become infected a few weeks before the events of the films and Jonah had injected everyone with the vaccine just before he awakened in the pit at the beginning of the film.

The dawn of the 18th breaks and Nathan recalls that it was the date that the rescue team was due to come. Those zombie-like infected surrounding the house suddenly are all shot dead and everyone else seems safe. Nathan wanders outside the house and thanks the person or persons who saved his life. However, the soldier gets orders to leave no survivors. Nathan suddenly finds himself surrounded and then shot to death while Sharon and the now returned Jonah watch.

When trying to escape, Sharon is badly wounded by an infected woman.

With very few options available to them Jonah decides that the only way to escape execution is if he and Sharon were to take the vaccine again, thus appearing to be dead until the soldiers disappear. They climb back into the pit of bodies from the beginning of the film and Sharon gives Jonah the letter she wrote earlier telling him that he must remember.

Jonah passes into unconsciousness and the letter falls from his grasp. When he awakens several days later. Sharon has now died from her wounds although Jonah doesn't know who she is. The mute throws down a rope to allow him to escape and as his memory recovers he and the mute start a journey to an unknown location. It is revealed in the note the mute is the source of a cure as her blood is immune to the infection.

At the end of the story the title Open Grave reveals it's meaning , the mute woman and Jonah was standing in an open ground with a dead body that stretches several miles from them.

REVIEW:

I'm quite disappointed with how the movie ends but in some ways, I like it. The cast's are good but there was a point that I get really bored that I almost want to stop watching. For those who love horror and crime stories this would be a good one for the list.
